Alessia Cara performed the reflective "Out of Love" from her just released Pains of Growing album on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night (Dec. 4). Illuminated by a single light, she took to the stage wearing a pink tie, untucked shirt and one of her signature oversized suits, which she recently told the Today Show were her "artistic way of symbolizing the idea of growing up."
"I won`t tell you I`m lonely," she opened in a velvety voice, accompanied by a piano on the slow-burn ballad about the end of an affair. "Cause it might be selfish/ I won`t ask you to hold me/ Cause that won`t help what`s helpless."
A cello joined in on the tender chorus: "When did you fall out of love?/ Out of love?/ Oh, when did you fall out of love with me?" As the song progressed, the stage lit up to reveal a full band and backup singers, all wearing white button-downs and ties.
