In 2022, Shawnee obtained her inaugural JUNO Award nomination for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year, was listed on the long list for the Edmonton Music Prize in 2021 and signed a label agreement with Amelia Recordings. In 2020, CBC`s Searchlight talent competition crowned her the champion. Furthermore, her performance at the World Expo in Dubai in 2020 is evidence of her global appeal, and her recognition as one of North America`s top gender-bending artists by MTV.
